Future with perspectives for Tyrol
Our modern world needs energy – around the clock, reliably and safely. But that’s not all. Ideally, that energy also needs to be of clean origin, environmentally friendly and socially acceptable. This is where our aspiration comes in: We already produce clean and carbon-free electricity from domestic, renewable hydropower – thanks to its mountains, streams and rivers, Tyrol has sufficient power of this kind. In order to achieve the Austrian and Tyrolean climate goals, additional hydropower plants must be built. This is the only way we will have the chance to generate the total electricity consumption from renewable energy sources by 2030 and to cover the total energy consumption with renewable energy sources by 2050 in order to actively fight the climate crisis and create the energy transition.
A team of TIWAG ecologists accompanies all projects from planning to completion. Their expertise combined with close monitoring makes it possible to ensure the success of the measures. In cooperation with universities and external specialists, new methods are constantly being developed and optimal solutions created.
Environmental and species protection, biodiversity and the careful handling of water are of utmost importance to TIWAG in our power plant projects. In recent years, numerous measures have been implemented to improve the natural habitat, which make Tyrol even more liveable for humans and animals. Numerous projects are currently being planned or implemented.
